Falcon High School junior Hannah Petrie, 17, was one of ten students worldwide to recently attend the Frances Hesselbein Student Leadership Training program at the Air Force Academy.
Petrie  is a member of Falcon High School’s Student 2 Student (S2S) program that has helpedover 100 new students transition and connect at school.

S2S is a program for the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) that began at Falcon High School four years ago. Started by school counselor Greg Morris, Falcon High School has sent a student to the leadership program each year. Falcon High School has been one of four schools in the country recognized every year at the S2S national conference.

Petrie said  one of her most memorable experiences during the  training program  event was a Skype call the group shared with Frances Hesselbein, President and CEO of The Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute.

“Mrs. Hesselbein talked about leaving a legacy, and passing the torch burning bright. I want students at Falcon High School to remember me and say, ‘I want to be the next Hannah Petrie, and be remembered for my leadership,’” Petrie  said.

After graduation next year, she plans to get a  college degree in  sports medicine or physical therapy.
