A 19-year-old man died Saturday afternoon after plummeting more than 100 feet from an overlook off Old Stage Road Saturday in the mountains west of Colorado Springs.

A 911 caller reported the man's fall at around 1:15 p.m. and firefighters rushed up the narrow mountain roads to the scene near St. Peter's Dome, said Lt. Lari Sevene, an El Paso County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.

The man, whose name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, was hiking with a friend when he fell.

An El Paso County Search and Rescue team has been sent to recover the body.
