Girls' hoops coach accused of sexual relationship with 17-year-old boy

A 26-year-old physical education teacher at Basalt High School is facing sex abuse charges over her alleged four-month relationship with a 17-year-old male student, the Eagle County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday.

Lauren Redfern of El Jebel is charged with sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust with a pattern of sexual abuse, a felony.

The Sheriff's Office alleges that the sex acts took place at both Redfern's home and the home of the student in unincorporated Eagle County.
