MONTROSE — Authorities have arrested a Texas resident in connection with the death of his wife in southwest Colorado in 2008.

The Montrose Daily Press reports 49-year-old Frederick Harold Mueller was arrested Monday at his business near San Angelo, Texas, on suspicion of first-degree murder.

He is suspected in the death of Dr. Leslie Mueller in Cottonwood Creek in Hinsdale County in Colorado, where her family had property. An obituary at the time had described her drowning in the creek as a hiking accident.

District Attorney Dan Hotsenpiller announced Frederick Mueller's arrest in a news release but hasn't said why Mueller is suspected of killing his wife.

Mueller is being held in Tom Green County, Texas. An extradition date was not immediately available.
