The Ellicott School District 22 board voted unanimously Friday to accept the resignation of board member Stefanie Dickinson.

Dickinson was arrested Sunday on suspicion of Internet luring of a child, a Class 4 felony, after a deputy found text messages from her on a 14-year-old youth’s  phone offering to have sex with him, authorities said.

Dickinson was not at the meeting but had submitted a resignation letter. The board did not read the letter and accepted the resignation without comment.

Dickinson, 37, is due in court Wednesday to be advised of charges.

She had been fighting a recall effort that target her and board Vice President Gary Lake. The County Clerk’s office says the recall election, which will be in conjunction with the Nov. 1 general election, will continue despite Dickinson’s resignation.
