A road game at Gonzaga, a home game against Colorado and a weekend tournament among military institutions to tip off the season are the highlights in Air Force's men’s basketball schedule this season.

The full schedule will be revealed Wednesday, but one of the marquee nonconference games will be Dec. 22, when Air Force goes to Spokane, Wash., to face Gonzaga, a perennial NCAA Tournament participant.

“It’s a good game for us because it’s the type of competition we’ll see in the Mountain West,” Falcons coach Jeff Reynolds said.

Air Force also begins its four-year contract with Colorado with a game at Clune Arena at 7 p.m. Nov. 23.

One of the unique aspects of the schedule is the All-Military Classic at Clune Arena, which will include Air Force, Army, Citadel and VMI. The two-day tournament will begin Nov. 11 with a game between Air Force and Army at 6:30 p.m. Citadel will play VMI at 8:30 p.m. The losing teams will play each other at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 12, and the winners will play in the championship game at 8:30 p.m.

The All-Military Classic will run at least four years, with every team hosting it once. Reynolds said Navy was approached but could not work the tournament into its schedule because of previous obligations. That tournament, which Reynolds pushed hard to put together, will be the opening games of Air Force’s 2011-12 season.

“We’re excited about that,” Reynolds said. “It’ll be a great weekend for Falcon athletics, because there’s two games on Friday night, a football game against Wyoming on Saturday afternoon, and two more games on Saturday night.”

Air Force will also play in the Cable Car Classic at Santa Clara on Dec. 29-30. The two-day tournament will include Wagner, Santa Clara and Eastern Michigan.
