Christian music publisher moving from Alabama to Colorado Springs

A Christian music publishing operation with 30 employees will relocate this fall to Colorado Springs after its acquisition by David C Cook, the Springs-based nonprofit Christian Sunday-school curriculum publishing company.

Integrity Music was acquired June 1 by Cook from Mobile, Ala.-based Integrity Media. Integrity Music will operate independently as a division of Cook, alongside Cook’s Kingsway Music unit; it will be headed by C. Ryan Dunham, who previously was Cook’s senior vice president of sales and marketing and had been a longtime executive of Christian publishing giant Zondervan.

Integrity will move to Cook’s headquarters in northeast Colorado Springs after a three-month transition period, Cook said Thursday in a news release.

“The acquisition of Integrity Music makes sense from both a ministry as well as a business standpoint," Dunham said in the release. "Both organizations are widely respected for their international reach and their worship music catalogs. David C Cook is no newcomer to the worship music ministry. In 1993, Cook acquired Kingsway, a worship music company in Eastbourne, England, and partnered with EMI Christian Music Group to produce the Thank You Music song catalog.”

The deal will expand Cook’s worship music operations by widening the variety of titles in its offerings, will provide Integrity Music’s artists and composers with a “fresh perspective and ownership structure as part of a nonprofit with an expanding realm of influence” and will provide Christian churches with more worship options, the release said.

Cook employs 171 in the Springs to produce nine Sunday school curriculum lines, Christian books, kits for teaching children about Christian beliefs and interactive materials.

Michael Coleman, Integrity Media co-founder and CEO, said he and Cook CEO Cris Doornbos “share a deep passion for serving the global church and for the rule worship music plays in making disciples around the world. As Integrity prepares to celebrate 25 years in ministry, I look forward to seeing the expanding impact of Integrity songs and products around the world.”

Integrity Media will continue operating in Alabama with its Integrity Direct, Integrity Worship Institute and international units in the United Kingdom, South Africa and Singapore.
