A downtown resident believed to be the man on crutches who allegedly robbed a Wells Fargo bank midday Monday was arrested later in the day.

Police released a photo of the alleged robber Monday evening and received two tips shortly afterward.

Danny Riley, 49, was arrested at about 6 p.m. at a downtown motel.  Colorado Springs police said Riley was carrying items from the bank and other items were found in the room.

The robber entered the Wells Fargo at 90 S. Cascade Ave. just before noon, claimed that he had a gun and demanded cash from a teller.

A bank teller gave him an undetermined amount of money, and he walked out,, according to the police report.

Riley is being held in the El Paso County jail on $25,000 bond.

Police say no shots were fired, and no injuries were reported during the robbery.
