Colorado Springs police are investigating the robbery Thursday of a JC Penney store at The Citadel mall.

A man tried walking out of the store with merchandise at about 8 p.m., according to Colorado Springs police. When a store security guard tried stopping him, he pulled out a handgun.

He fled in a white Honda Civic, said Colorado Springs police Sgt. Craig Simpson.

No one was injured at store, located in the Citadel Mall at 680 Citadel Drive

What made him stand out was a “big tattoo” on his neck that bore a vulgar word that “rhymed with duck,” Simpson said. His right arm also had a tattoo sleeve and tattoos covered parts of his left arm and his legs.

Anyone with information on the robbery can call the Colorado Springs Police Department at 444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 634-7867. Tips can also be texted to 847411.
