Gazette Premium Content Public forums set with finalists for PPCC's top job

Pikes Peak Community College will soon get a new president, and the public is invited to meet the six semi-finalists at a series of on-campus forums on Monday and Tuesday.

A public reception for the semi-finalists will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Downtown Studio Campus Gallery, 100 W. Pikes Peak Ave. Food and beverages will be served.

PPCC students, faculty and staff and community members will be able to meet each candidate and ask questions about their backgrounds and qualifications at forums for individual candidates.

Feedback forms will be available at the events and those attending will have an opportunity to share their impressions with members of the search committee.

The semifinalists:

• Ann Valentine, President of Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Fergus Falls, Minn.

• Daniel Seymour, Vice Chancellor of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness of Houston Community College in Houston, Texas.

• Lance Bolton, president of Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo.

• Daniel Bain, president of Independence Community College in Independence, Kan.

• Christine Chairsell, district vice president of Academic and Student Affairs at Portland Community College in Portland, Ore.

• Thomas Baynum, president of Coastal Bend College in Beeville, Texas

Their resumes and cover letters will be posted this week on the PPCC website at ppcc.edu. Click on the Presidential Search icon on the main page.

The semi-finalists also will participate in individual meetings with the PPCC Presidential Search Committee, the PPCC Leadership Team, PPCC’s chief financial officer, and PPCC’s interim president as well as touring the campus and community.

Based on feedback from the public events, analysis of qualifications and thorough reference and background checks, the search committee will make recommendations of which applicants should be strongly considered by Nancy McCallin, Colorado Community College System president.

PUBLIC FORUMS

The forums will be in the atrium at Pikes Peak Community College Centennial Campus, 5675 S. Academy Blvd..
