Woman accused in dragging death back in jail

Staff reports Updated: April 4, 2011 at 12:00 am

The woman facing charges in the dragging death of a tow truck driver in February allegedly violated the terms of her bail and is being held in the El Paso County jail.

Detra Farries, 34, apparently moved to Denver without notifying the court or receiving permission while out on bail, authorities said.

She is being held on $50,000 bond. Her next court appearance is set for April 15.

Farries is charged with vehicular homicide in the death of Allen Rose, 35, who was dragged to his death Feb. 23 while trying to tow an illegally parked sport utility vehicle from the lot of an east Colorado Springs apartment complex.

Rose was attaching a cable to the vehicle when a woman jumped into it and drove off. Rose's legs became entangled in the cable when he ran after the fleeing vehicle.
