A week of welcome continues at Fort Carson Wednesday as 600 soldiers from the post's 3rd Brigade Combat Team come home Wednesday after a year in Iraq.

More than 250 soldiers from the brigade arrived at the post early Tuesday morning after 400 troops came home over the weekend.

The 3,800-soldier brigade helped train Iraq troops and provide security assistance over a wide swath of southern Iraq centered on the Persian Gulf port city of Basra.

Some soldiers in the brigade have spent four of the past eight years at war in Iraq.

More soldiers are due back Thursday and Friday, a post spokesman said.

All soldiers from the brigade are expected home by the end of the month.
