A man police say was shot in the head early Sunday morning is expected to make a full recovery.

The man, whose name police have not released, called police at 2 a.m. from Longfellow Drive in east Colorado Springs. Police said the victim had a gunshot wound to his head, but was conscious and able to speak. The man told police he and another man got into a fight earlier in the evening at a local bar, which police did not name.

Police said the suspect then was seen in the area, driving a green van. Police chased the van, eventually forcing it to a stop on Verde Drive, about 2 miles to the southwest from Longfellow Drive.

Police arrested Leroy Maestas, 53, on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder. The victim was taken to the hospital.
