U.S. Figure Skating, in conjunction with the International Skating Union, announced that Colorado Springs will host the 2012 ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships.

The competition will take place Feb. 6-12, 2012, at the World Arena and World Arena Ice Hall.

"We look forward to welcoming the world's figure skaters back to the United States for this prestigious competition," said U.S. Figure Skating president Patricia St. Peter.

Colorado Springs has hosted numerous international figure skating events throughout the history of the sport, including both the 2006 and '07 editions of this event. The city most recently hosted 2010 World Synchronized Figure Skating Championships last March. It also has presented five World Championships, two World Junior Championships, three Skate Americas and six U.S. Championships.

The Four Continents Championships is the equivalent of the European Championships for the world's top skaters in North America, Asia, Australia and Africa.
