DENVER — Denver police say officers have shot and killed a man who pulled a fake gun on them.
The shooting happened early Monday. The wounded man died later at the hospital.
Police spokesman John White says someone called around 1 a.m. to report that there were two men, including one with a gun, in a neighborhood in southwest Denver. Officers arrived and found the men. One obeyed commands but the other didn't. White said he pulled what appeared to be a handgun and two officers fired at him multiple times.
White said the gun was later found to be a replica handgun.
The man who died hasn't been identified. The two officers who shot him have been placed on paid administrative leave.
