They're the Leaders in Giving, the individuals and businesses who can be counted on to always lead the way as Pikes Peak United Way benefactors. Tagged LIG, these donors, all of whom give $1,000 or more annually, were treated to a sunny evening thank-you reception at Garden of the Gods Club on Sept. 24.

Pikes Peak United Way President/CEO Jason Wood saluted the LIG, saying that during the 2012-13 campaign, more than 1,030 Leaders In Giving donated $2.6 million, which represented 47 percent of the campaign total. "Forty-seven percent," he said. "In this one room. That's impressive."

The LIG levels are Summit Society, the 970 donors who gave $1,000 to $9,999, and the Alexis de Tocqueville Society, 62 local members who brought in more than $1.2 million. LIG co-chairs are Jan Weiland and Jake Martens; Gayle Beshears and Kevin Patterson head the Tocqueville campaign.
