For 15 years, Frankie Shaw has worked on the janitorial crew during Colorado Springs Sky Sox games, but on Aug. 13, she was on the pitcher's mound to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game with Memphis.
It was Blue Star Recyclers' night at Security Service Field. Blue Star is her employer as well. She has worked there for four years. Blue Star, which recycles electronics, creates jobs for people with disabilities.
One day a week Shaw has a third job, this one at Barnes & Noble.
Blue Star CEO Bill Morris said, "Frankie is an outstanding role model for any person with or without a disability. It's nearly impossible to have a bad day when you work around someone like Frankie."
