The celebration of three decades of The Gazette/El Pomar Foundation Empty Stocking Fund brought a big smile to the face of Gazette publisher Dan Steever: "Our 30th year and once again we hit our goal." For seven years ESF has topped $1 million.

The celebration of three decades of The Gazette/El Pomar Foundation Empty Stocking Fund brought a big smile to the face of Gazette publisher Dan Steever: "Our 30th year and once again we hit our goal." For seven years ESF has topped $1 million.

It was an evening of celebration and Summit Catering tapas Jan. 24 at Penrose House for the 15 human service agencies that picked up their checks at the conclusion of the 2013 holiday drive.

One hundred percent of the $1,018,866.04 raised went to the agencies. The community donated $748,000, El Pomar Foundation gave an additional $200,000 and The Bruni Foundation $70,000.
