The names were from the pages of figure skating history. The evening was glittering, those attending moving with graceful athletic elegance.

The Broadmoor Skating Club marked its 75th anniversary with a gala Aug. 10 at Cheyenne Mountain Resort and a luncheon at the World Figure Skating Museum and Hall of Fame on Aug. 11.

Joining the celebration were guests from 20 states and four countries, Canada, Mexico, Australia and England.

A highlight of the celebration was the unveiling of a skating sculpture, donated by friends of the BSC, at the World Figure Skating Museum. Emcee for the gala was the longest-standing BSC member, Christy Haigler Krall, a past Olympian. The audience heard from 1990 world champion Jill Trenary; Carol Heiss Jenkins (1960 Olympic ladies champion) on behalf of her brother-in-law, the 1960 Olympic men's champion, David Jenkins, and Carol's husband, Hayes Alan Jenkins, the 1956 Olympic men's champion.

Debbie Might, a 38-year member of the BSC, chaired the festivities, assisted by her husband, Mark Steinberg; skating coach Janet Champion, past president of the BSC; Rita Cerny and her husband John, a BSC board member; and former Broadmoor World Arena manager Lois Nesselhauf.

Other attendees included Colleen O'Connor and Jim Millns, 1976 Olympic dance bronze medalists; Andra McLaughlin Kelly, World Team member who went pro to take over Sonja Henie's spot in Hollywood Ice Review, and her husband "Red" Kelly, eight-time Stanley Cup hockey winner with the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Also: Christa Fassi, wife of famed skating coach Carlo Fassi; Caryn Kadavy, 1987 world ladies bronze medalist; Caydee Denney and John Coughlin, 2012 U.S. national pairs champions; Max Aaron, 2013 U.S. national men's champion; and Rachael Flatt, 2010 U.S. national ladies champion.
