AROUND TOWN: Benefit barks up the right tree

By Linda Navarro Published: April 23, 2014

Wine, women, bling and furry friends made for a special April 1. No fooling.
Wendy Pearce Nelson is owner of Blue Fox Photography and an über dog lover whose family members Mick Wagger and Lu Lu Belle even have their own blog: tailsfromthepuptent.blogspot.com.
Together with Maureen Christopher from Tayco Screen Printing and Lisa Stark with Mad4STERLING Jewelry LLC, Pearce Nelson created a new benefit, Barks & Bling, and raised $1,000 for the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
Fifty women ate, sipped wine, shopped for Silpada jewelry and had pictures taken with what Pearce Nelson calls their “fur babies,” many wearing costumes and modeling their doggie jewelry.
It’s destined to become an annual event, the hostesses promise.
