Colorado Springs police are investigating an early morning attempted robbery Friday at a fast-food restaurant near the Air Force Academy.

Police are looking for a man, who McDonald’s employees say, demanded money while showing a handgun in his waistband.

Police were called to the McDonald’s at 8120 Voyager Parkway, east of Interstate 25, shortly before 2 a.m.

A white man in his 40s, wearing a green hoodie, baseball cap and a camouflage bandana over his face, walked up to the restaurant’s front counter with a plastic bag and told the employee to “put the money in the bag”, according to police. Workers ran to the back of the store and the suspect left in an unknown direction with no money.
