An argument between a driver and passenger might have caused a rollover crash in El Paso County that killed the passenger, the Colorado State Patrol reported.

Nelly Padilla, 20, from Calhan, died on the scene of the rollover off Colorado 94 at mile marker 12 near U.S. 24, said Trooper Nate Reid. She wasn't wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the 2005 Jeep Liberty, Jesus Santos, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, Reid said. Santos, 21, of Colorado Springs, was wearing a seat belt.

The crash happened about noon Sunday when Santos and Padilla began arguing, Reid said. Padilla reportedly grabbed the steering wheel and pulled it to the right. When Santos pulled it back, he over-corrected, causing the car to go off the road, Reid said. The Jeep rolled multiple times and ended up in a field.
