Two people were appointed Friday evening to the board that will decide the fate of a proposed methadone clinic in Monument next week.

Shea Medlicott and Robin Yamiolkoski were appointed by Monument's Board of Trustees to the Board of Adjustments - filling two vacancies at a critical time for the five-member board.

The Board of Adjustments will hear an appeal Monday evening regarding zoning issues for a methadone clinic slated to open this year in Monument. Such clinics aim to help heroin addicts by dispensing methadone, which eliminates the effects of withdrawal.

The planned clinic, 192 Front St., has garnered opposition from neighboring residents who are concerned about its location across from Limbach Park.

Monday's meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Lewis Palmer School District 38 Administration Building, 146 Jefferson St. in Monument.
