Amy Van Dyken-Rouen tweets photos from Scottsdale hospital

Amy Van Dyken-Rouen's spirit was showing Tuesday on Twitter. On Friday, the six-time Olympic swimming gold medalist severed her spinal cord in an all-terrain vehicle accident near her Arizona home. Van Dyken-Rouen is at the Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center.

On Tuesday, Van Dyken-Rouen posted an Instagram photofrom the hospital. She wrote, "Doing great today. My room is the most decorated in ICU. Thx for ur thoughts & prayers!"

The photo included a shot with balloons and stuffed animals. It also had a headshot selfieVan Dyken-Rouen took of herself, and she had two scratches on her face.

She also retweeted a picture from Instagram that hardbodynews took of the front page of The Denver Post with the story on her accident and fight to recover. Van Dyken-Rouen replied back with "Thanks, Hardbody News!"

She later tweeted out a photo of her sitting up in her hospital bedfor the first time, with the help of aides and a back brace. "Making progress," she wrote. "First day I sat up. Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers."

Monday the Van Dyken and Rouen family released a statement that said, "Amy's spinal cord was completely severed at the T-11 vertebra , but, miraculously, a broken vertebra stopped within millimeters of rupturing her aorta."

Van Dyken-Rouen graduated from Cherry Creek High School in 1991 and swam two years at Colorado State University.
