Air Force suffered its first loss of the season and its first in the history of the All-Military Classic, falling 71-63 to Virginia Military Institute.
VMI escaped an early 11-4 hole to power its way to a title in the four-team event in front of its home crowd - which stormed the floor afterward, breaking a courtside table in the process - on Saturday night in Lexington, Va.
The Falcons (1-1) had gone 4-0 in winning the event in its first two years and opened the season with a victory Friday over Army.
The Keydets (2-0) built a 14-point lead on the strength of a four-point play at the end of the first half and increased the advantage to as large as 21.
Air Force twice rallied to within nine points but couldn't sustain the momentum despite career highs with 21 points and eight rebounds for Marek Olesinski.
Tre' Coggins was the lone Falcon named to the all-tournament team after scoring 32 points in two games - including 12 Saturday.
VMI freshman QJ Peterson, who scored 19 points against Air Force and 25 on Friday against Citadel, was the event's MVP.
