Air Force football will enjoy three prime-time spots on ESPN this season.
The Mountain West released a portion of its football national television schedule Tuesday, and it begins with Air Force’s game at Boise State on ESPN at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13.
The appearance on ESPN will come with a $300,000 bonus for Air Force.
Air Force will twice appear on ESPNU – at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8 at New Mexico and at home against UNLV at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21. Since these games will be carried by ESPNU instead of ESPN, they will not come with the financial bonus per conference terms.
Of the 12 teams in the Mountain West, Air Force is the only one scheduled for three games on ESPN’s family of networks. Boise State will appear twice (both on ESPN), San Jose State will appear on ESPN and ESPN2 and six other teams will have one appearance on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU.
This represents only part of the schedule. Details on the CBS Sports Network schedule and perhaps more ESPN broadcasts will be announced later.
Air Force’s games at Navy at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 5 and against Notre Dame at a yet-to-be determined time Oct. 26 – both games are on Saturdays – will be carried by CBS or one of its subsidiaries.
