Air Force Academy cadet wants to dance with Jennifer Lawrence

In Chase Lehocky's estimation, he has a lot going for him.

The enlisted pharmacy tech turned Air Force Academy cadet is an aspiring screenwriter with a goofy sense of humor.

He'd have more going for him, though, if Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence accompanies him May 24 to the academy's ring dance, an annual tradition at which rising seniors receive their class rings.

Unable to contact the 'X-Men ' and 'The Hunger Games ' starlet directly, Lehocky did the next best thing: gathered some buddies, filmed a video invitation and posted it to YouTube.

'God, look at that scenery. So beautiful. Know what would be more beautiful? ' Lehocky, 23, asks on the video while standing in front of the academy's Cadet Chapel.

'You, Jennifer Lawrence, sharing it with me. '

Lehocky, a movie buff, narrowed his choices down to Lawrence and Emma Stone, of 'Spider-Man ' and 'Easy A ' fame.

Lawrence 'seemed like one of the more down-to-earth actresses out there, ' Lehocky said. 'I was thinking she'd be one of the most fun to enjoy (the dance) with. I guess you could say it's a crush. '

Lehocky decided to invite Lawrence to the dance before she won the Best Actress Oscar earlier this year for her role in 'Silver Linings Playbook. '

Fickle Colorado weather, however, prevented he and his pals from filming outdoors until April 29, when temperatures hit the 70s.

Lawrence's famous stair stumble on her way up the Oscar stage assured Lehocky that he'd chosen the right girl.

'People make mistakes, ' he said. 'I sometimes walk up the stairs and don't realize it, but I just do it (fall).

'What made it really awesome was the was her after-Oscars interviews. She kind of gave this weird look like, 'It was embarrassing. What else were you expecting?' '

Lehocky even fell on the stairs in his video in a bid to get Lawrence to identify with him.

'People are like, 'This (video) is embarrassing,' ' he said. 'Well, it's not embarrassing if you're trying to do something you've always wanted to do. '

Should Lawrence respond favorably, Lehocky pictures the date going down like this: He'll pick her up at a private airport. Show her around town. Take her to the ring dance. Take her to dinner and 'have a great time Friday and Saturday. '

Yes, there's a day No. 2 in his plans.

What would the pair do the day after the dance?

'I know her lifestyle and everything - she's probably sick and tired of having the cameras around her, ' he said. 'I'd probably take her to a private place so she could have some peace and quiet, so she could feel relieved. '

Less than a week after posting, Lehocky's viral invitation has received nearly 800 views and scored him calls from TV stations in Colorado Springs, Los Angeles and Lawrence's hometown in Kentucky, Lehocky said.

If Lawrence can't make it or fails to respond, Lehocky doesn't plan to skip the dance or go dateless.

He's 'pretty sure ' he can find someone last minute, maybe at a mall or bar, he said.

Lehocky would be thrilled with any type of response from Lawrence, regardless of her answer, he said.

'Even a 'sorry, I can't make it, I'm busy' from her would be amazing, ' he said. 'I know for a fact she's filming 'X-Men' right now. '
