A&E NEWS: Colorado College instructor scores an Emmy Award

Emmy Award nomination

Eric Shaw, a visiting instructor in the film studies department at Colorado College, was nominated for an Emmy Award as the head writer of "WordGirl," a PBS television series. The animated children's series is intended to teach kids ages 6-11 about the English language. The Daytime Emmy Awards will be presented June 16.

Local artist receives award

Thomas Blackshear, a Springs artist who is nationally recognized, was recently honored in Chicago as the 2013 recipient of the American Academy of Art's Distinguished Alumnus Award. The 1977 graduate was also the commencement speaker at the academy's graduation ceremony May 10.
