Adam's Mountain Cafe, the popular Manitou Springs restaurant, confirmed Saturday on its Facebook page that is moving.

The owner of the cafe is pursuing the Manitou Pancake and Steak House, which is at 26 Manitou Ave. In August, owner Farley McDonough said she wanted to move the cafe to a less flood-prone location in town after the cafe was forced to close when flood waters roared through Manitou and filled the cafe with water and mud.

The new site means the cafe will stay in Manitou and will allow Farley to expand the offerings, including breakfast all day, every day.

"There are a lot of code issues and deferred maintenance with the building but there is also a lot of potential," the Facebook post said.

Adam's Mountain Cafe has been open for 28 years. It is at 934 Manitou Ave. in the Manitou Spa building, which houses other businesses.

In August up to 3 feet of water and mud flowed down from Williams Canyon to Canon Avenue and into Adam's, forcing the closure. At the time Farley estimated the closure to be a loss of about $160,000 in revenue that could not be recovered. The restaurant's lease on its current location expires April 30.
