All lanes of Airport Road reopened two hours after two separate wrecks closed off the intersection at Academy Boulevard Thursday, the first crash possibly injuring a police officer.

Airport Road was shut off in both directions, while one southbound lane of Academy Boulevard was closed, police spokeswoman Lt. Catherine Buckley said.

The first crash, which involved a police car and a pickup truck, was reported just before 7 a.m. and the officer was given precautionary medical attention, but it's unknown if he was injured, Buckley said.

A light pole and a fiber-optics box were also damaged in the first wreck.

Very little information was available about the second car crash, which happened an hour later, police said. Two vehicles were involved but it was unknown how many occupants were injured or what the extent of the damage was.
