FLORIDA MAN PLEADS NOT GUILTY IN FACEBOOK KILLING CASE
A Florida man accused of killing his wife and posting pictures of her corpse on Facebook pleaded not guilty in a Miami courtroom Wednesday. The hearing came after a grand jury indicted 31-year-old Derek Medina on a first-degree murder charge in the shooting death of his wife, 26-year-old Jennifer Alonso.
FAMILY OF NAVY YARD SHOOTING VICTIM FILES LAWSUIT
The family of a woman slain during the mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard is filing a lawsuit against the Navy, the Department of Veterans Affairs and two defense contractors in federal court in Florida. A lawyer for Mary DeLorenzo Knight's family said during a news conference Wednesday that the Navy and the contractors that employed Aaron Alexis ignored red flags about his deteriorating mental health.
SEX ABUSE PREVENTION ORGANIZATION FOUNDER HONORED
The founder of an organization that seeks to prevent sexual abuse and help survivors is this year's winner of L'Oreal's Women of Worth program. Lauren's Kids founder Lauren Book was selected as the cosmetic company's national honoree Tuesday night at a ceremony in New York City. She was one of 3,500 women nominated for the program.

MAN KILLS WIFE, SON IN SOUTH FLORIDA
A South Florida man used a crossbow to kill his wife and teenage son in their Weston townhouse on Monday, before driving to Tallahassee, where he tried to kill another son who is a student at FSU. Authorities later found the man dead in a Lake City motel room.
