The 4-year-old girl found walking around alone Sunday night has been identified but remains in Department of Human Services custody.

Colorado Springs police found the girl on the 3900 block of Regency Drive near Broadmoor Valley Road around 11 p.m. She was clothed, in good health and seemed to be well-nourished, but could not name her parents or say where she lived. She provided a name to police, which was released Monday morning in an effort to find her family.

Police said a family member called the girl's mom after hearing about the found 4-year-old through the media. When the mom realized her daughter was not at home, she called police just after 9 a.m. Monday.

The parents told police they kept their doors locked but that the girl had wandered off without them realizing she was gone.

No charges have been filed and the parents' and child's names have not been released.

The girl will remain in Department of Human Services custody while the agency investigates.
