The 2018 Camry puts a new spin on a beloved classic. Celebrated since 1985, this ‘go-to’ car began as a small reliable sedan, grew into a larger mid-size sedan, and is now a sleek car that’s as safe as it is sexy. The Camry appeals to every age and demographic – from millennial - to mom - to retiree.

Completely redesigned in 2018, the Camry features an elegant yet aggressive exterior that leaves a lasting impression wherever it goes. From the LE and SE to the XLE and XSE, the cars’ sweeping curves and chiseled surfaces were irresistible. Approaching the car I was taken by its powerful stance – a stimulating allure - new in 2018 for the trusty Camry.

At a glance, the 2.5-liter Dynamic Force 4-Cylinder LE is attractively punctuated with 17-inch alloy wheels and Bi-LED combination head lights, while the SE’s black front grille adds an athletic touch with its sport mesh insert, its 18-inch black machine-finished alloy wheels, and its color-keyed sport side rocker panels and rear spoiler. The 3.5-liter V6 XSE takes it to the next level with quad chromed-tipped dual exhaust, smoke-tinted LED tail and headlights, panoramic glass roof and fin antenna. “The 2018 Camry is a game-changer – appealing to a cross generation of buyers,” said Justin Lombardi, Store Manager for Liberty Toyota at 5115 New Car Drive in Colorado Springs.

I had a chance to drive the solid 2018 LE Sedan. My first time driving a Camry, I had that absolute feeling of protection and confidence that I always imagined a Camry would bring; all the while having a new, sporty style that I proudly flaunted on the road. I was impressed by the power, handling and turning radius of the car. On the highway, its speedy acceleration allowed me to merge, change lanes and cruise with ease.

Making the experience even more enjoyable was the safety and entertainment features. I was impressed by the cutting-edge electronic stability, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams and blind spot detection. The entertainment/infotainment system is extremely user-friendly; with large self-explanatory buttons and seamless hands-free capabilities that allowed me to listen to music, call my sister and get directions effortlessly. The voice command is highly sophisticated, never having to repeat myself when providing cues.

The indulgent and spacious interior was extremely comfortable with its eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and power lumbar support. “The build quality and luxury features are top-notch,” said Lombardi. “The materials you’re touching, the fabrics, the leathers, are of the highest quality. Toyota has created a masterful vehicle that takes cues from the Lexus ES350 – with the same high quality fabrics and materials – but at a price point that starts in the $20s rather than the $40s.”

The LE, SE and XLE are also offered in hybrid. Incredibly efficient, hybrids like the LE get 51 city/53 hwy mpg. “To have that size of a sedan, that has potential to get 50+ miles per gallon on the highway, is unheard of,” said Lombardi. The improved design and performance of Camry Hybrid’s all-new dynamic force 4-cylinder engine helps blend a stirring drive with optimized fuel economy.

I spoke with Bill Stahelin, General Manager for Toyota of Colorado Springs at 15 E. Motor Way, who shared with me his experience driving the Camry XSE V6 .“This is a performance-driven vehicle that really hugs the road around tight curves,” Stahelin said. “The acceleration is spot on – and the handling is incredible.” He noted that though agile, sporty and powerful, the Camry never falters in providing a complete feeling of safety and security on all terrain and in all weather.

“Toyota has built the 2018 Camry around the customer,” said Everton Allen, Senior Sales Associate at Toyota of Colorado Springs. “I like the new style, the acceleration, the handling, the quiet cabin and the luxury of the new Camry –Toyota listens to and invests in its customers, and this vehicle shows it.”

Toyota goes the extra mile for its drivers by providing Toyota Care for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles (whichever comes first). This no-cost maintenance by Toyota-trained technicians takes care of all oil changes, tire rotations, multi-point vehicle inspections and fluid adjustments. 24-hour roadside assistance, providing battery jump start, lock-out protection and emergency fuel delivery at no cost for the first two years from effective date, for unlimited miles, rounds out the package.
