Two people were rescued from Cheyenne Mountain Friday by an El Paso County Search and Rescue team.

The rescue mission lasted roughly four hours.

The two stranded people were Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Base contractors who were working on the mountain, according to Peterson Air Force Base officials. Rescuers first got the call around 5:40 p.m., and a team of 10 rescuers responded, according to search and rescue personnel.

The two were working on a part of the mountain that is inaccessible to the public, between the summit of the mountain and NORAD, but military officials said the two were authorized to be in the area.
