2 Weld County students expelled for allegedly having gun, ammo on school grounds

Two students have been removed from school after they allegedly possessed and transferred a gun at Mead High School sometime last week, police said.

A parent on Saturday reached out to Weld County Sheriff’s Officers when they discovered their teenager was in possession of a firearm that was not theirs, according to a news release. Deputies and investigators learned that one student brought the gun and ammunition to school and provided it to the other.

Initial investigations show there was “no credible coordination or collaboration” to commit any act of violence on school grounds, the release states.
