A deadly combination of speed and alcohol met Friday evening, killing a 33-year-old man riding a motorcycle on Union Boulevard, Colorado Springs police reported.
A second motorcyclist was killed several hours later in an unrelated incident in southeastern Colorado Springs when the driver struck a dump truck.
Neither alcohol nor speed played a factor in the second crash, the Colorado State Patrol reported.

The motorcycle rider was thrown from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene, police reported. His name has not been released pending notification of his family.
The driver of the Dodge Durango, Jason Deal, 33, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, police reported. The investigation is ongoing.
