Gazette Premium Content 2 editors, reporter subpoenaed in Aspen sex assault case

ASPEN — Two editors and a reporter at Aspen's newspapers have been subpoenaed for a sex assault trial set to begin in April.

Aspen Daily News editor Carolyn Sackariason, Aspen Times editor Rick Carroll and Aspen Daily News reporter Chad Abraham could be called to testify during the trial of 51-year-old Peter Nardi, who is accused of sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

Reporters from both papers interviewed the Aspen man in May. He denied the accusations and said he wouldn't accept a plea deal.

The Aspen Daily News reports ( ) Nardi is accused of sexually assaulting, smothering and threatening to kill the woman. He also faces a felony charge of attempted assault and a misdemeanor charge of false imprisonment.

Nardi pleaded not guilty in October and is scheduled to go to trial April 8.
