A house fire at 918 S. Sahwatch St. early Monday left two people without a place to live, Colorado Springs firefighters said.

Flames and smoke were visible from the back of the home and the attic when firefighters arrived shortly after 6:30 a.m., Lt. John Aker said.

"The flames got into the attic and firefighters climbed over the outside of the house, they got a really good spot to extinguish the fire," Aker said. The blaze was out by 7:12 a.m.

Investigators were working to determine the cause of the fire and the extent of damages.

Traffic was blocked at Fountain Boulevard and Sahwatch Street until about 8 a.m. because of the fire.
